Freelance Lifestyle – How To Be More Productive By Being Happier

Freelance Lifestyle - How To Be More Productive By Being Happier

Freelance lifestyle can be challenging. You spend an awful lot of time at the computer, not moving, not talking with anyone.

Sometimes you get stuck because of one sentence you cannot grasp the meaning of.

You start getting frustrated, frustration brings stress, you can-t focus and time becomes unproductive.

There are a few, simple things you can do to be a happy freelancer.

All my tips are based on what I believe must be your objective: balance between mind and body.

Just because our work is mainly mental it doesn’t mean that we have to forget our body! If you don’t feel phisically good, your mind will not work properly either.

So, how can we feel fine and be happy throughout all our working day? Here are my tips to enjoy your freelance lifestyle:

1 – Start your day with vitamins and mineral salts. Your mind will be more brilliant and your body will feel much more energized.
2 – Remember to drink water throughout your day. Again, keeping your body hydrated makes it work better. Seems obvious but some people forget to drink for the whole day!
3 – Don’t look at your emails every five minutes. This will only make you feel more anxious. Decide 2 or 3 moments in the day when you’ll check them. In this way you’ll control your email, and not the opposite way round.
4 – Find the time to work out. The beauty of being a freelancer is that you can organize your time as you prefer. It shouldn’t be hard to find one hour a day to run, walk or go to the gym. This will release stress and provides your body with a tremendous level of serotonin, also called hormones of happiness. I don’t need to explain why it’s good for you.
5 – See some friends, see your boyfriend or girlfriend or make at least one pleasant call a day. It requires 20 minutes probably, but the contact with other human beings will make you feel much better if you work isolated the whole day, and I guarantee that you’ll work much more happily afterwards!

  2. This definitely is a very motivating article. Even if we really love our profession, we need to take things slowly, to get the best satisfaction for a job well done. Personally, I love you so much my profession, so I take note and implement the recommendations of Thierry Jamez, for me to achieve the greatest possible happiness.! Thanks for sharing your ideas with everyone.

It is a good idea to talk about this, Chiara. If we are not a very disciplinated persone, it should be hard to get a balance in this job. It is also nice to see that I am not the only one who has this kind of distraction like reading our emails. Thanks!
